Get Ready For The Best Year Of Your Life
How do I know 2011 will be the best year of my life? Because I plan to make it so. I plan to make each new year the best year of my life.
Some people feel they peaked early. Bruce Springsteen sang of this in “Glory Days”. Some people feel they peaked in high school, some in college and some right after. The problem with feeling that you have already peaked is that it’s all down hill from there. If you feel that way, you’re just wasting time.
By planning on peaking every year, life just gets better. It gives you an energy and purpose. The constant self talk is, “How can I make my life better?” And better doesn’t mean just more money. How about better relationships with yourself, romance, family, friends or coworkers? Better living conditions? Better working conditions? An occupation that better fits you?
Now is the time to start the thinking process going. Write things down, let them simmer for awhile. You may think of something even better. Think of some things that will stretch you but yield fantastic results.
Another way to look at it is to look at where you want to be in 5 years. People almost always underestimate what they can do in 5 years so dream big. After that’s in place, start planning where you need to be in the years between now and then to accomplish that 5 year plan. That’s called reverse engineering your goals.
Once you have the goals written down, come up with big enough reasons to accomplish them. These are called your “Why”. With a big enough Why, you can do anything, overcome anything and keep going. The size of your Why can be measured by what stops you.
December, 2011 will roll around anyway. Where you are this time next year will be largely determined by what you do now. Resolve to do more, be more, enjoy more and make 2011 the best year of your life, so far.
