What is lifestyle freedom?

Lifestyle freedom is different for everyone. My working definition that I use is being able to do what you want when you want. What is implied in this statement is that you do not work for someone else or have someone else control your income.

I enjoy this right now. I work from home. I have enjoyed playing with my boys this summer. Most dads, including my own, get to see their family maybe early in the morning and then when they come dragging in after work. I get to go to movies, get an ice cream or malt in the middle of the afternoon. I have come to understand them better as to who they really are – their thoughts, dreams, fears and humor.

I have a carpet commute. I fill up my gas tank once every four to six weeks. I work from home on my schedule.

I don’t have to worry about my job being cut. I was involved with a layoff about five years ago. Once it was driven home that no job was secure, I stopped pursuing security and sought freedom instead. I have found both.

I invite you to explore how to discover your lifestyle freedom.

Rick, what a powerful post this is! I love where you say you “stopped pursuing security and sought freedom instead!” I’m right with you in that! Discovering your lifestyle freedom is the transition we all need to make in our lives.

It is one where you manage your time and income.you are not enslaved to the corporate world, a boss, a time clock, or alarm. You choose when to work, where and with whom to work
You have control over your financial destiny, free from the rat race, and is debt FREE.You have the things in life you want. You are free to help others get what they want. You know who you are and are FREE to be who you are.Yes it is a true lifestyle freedom, and you’re the lucky one.

What an excellent blog. I, too, a few years ago decided that having a free lifestyle is more important than accumulating money. I chose to retire from the job of teaching, which had been a vocation before politics and teaching for tests started. I now tutor and work on crafts that I have always enjoyed doing but never had the time to do. I have found that, like you, I do not have to worry about the cost of going to and from work and I am living simply but comfortably. And I am free to make plans to enjoy life when I want to.
